It is truly an honor to have been awarded 2016 Artist of the Year by the prestigious Billfish Foundation. Earlier this winter TBF's Deborah Cummings and Beth Black approached me about creating a painting to commemorate The Billfish Foundation's 30th Anniversary on their February Billfish Magazine cover. We played around with some ideas and sketches that revolved around the number 3 and eventually came up with a design we all liked. The design is a spin off the The Billfish Foundation's logo and features 3 billfish: a Striped Marlin, a Blue Marlin, and a Sailfish. I also hid 3 number 30s in the splash of water. The painting was used for the cover of their magazine which just hit shelves this week (the silver text was printed in a very cool shiny silver foil) and is also being used to create a series of limited edition prints. Members joining or renewing with TBF for $250 or more will receive a personally signed and numbered edition of the print Billfish Slam. Each print presented to TBF Chairman's Club members will also include a hand-painted remarque of a Ballyhoo. The Billfish Foundation is a fantastic organization "Dedicated to Today's Youth, Our Legacy is their Billfishing Future."
