Cod Original Watercolor Painting
Cod, Gadus morhua
An historic New England icon, the Cod is a symbol of the bounty of the sea. Even since the days of the Vikings, Cod were economically important and were a food source for people around the globe due to their easy international transport as salt cod. This all came to a halt in 1992 when the population was fished to 1% of their population and the fishery was closed. Since that time the population has been allowed to increase, but the Cod is still in need of help from humans.
Price includes museum-quality framing including UV-blocking glass. The original painting's image is 21 1/2" wide x 8" tall and framed size is 30" wide x 16" tall.
My mission as an artist is to inspire an appreciation for and curiosity about nature and its creatures by communicating the aesthetic beauty of this planet’s amazing creatures as they really are.
It is my hope that this appreciation will result in acts of empathy & stewardship towards these incredible creatures portrayed in my paintings.
